Why Robben Design?
Me and my good ole' girl Maggie
Landscaping is as versatile and diverse as the many plants that go into it. I, Andrea Gibb, take inspiration from beautiful British Columbia to create the perfect space, the perfect yard. I do this using plants that not only look beautiful but that work for my clients unique lifestyle; be it a cottage garden, a garden that looks great with little maintenance or something more contemporary. I incorporate beautiful native B.C. plants whenever I can.
Plants and gardening is my blood, my parents, my grandparents, even my Mennonite ancestors in the Ukraine were gardeners as well as farmers. My father first taught me about native plants, I knew their names long before I would put them to use in my garden. The textures and colours of west coast British Columbia's forests are the perfect inspiration for any west coast garden.
I started my career as a Graphic Designer; I earned a diploma from UFV. I spent five years freelancing as a Graphic Designer. Then the greatest challenge of my career came in the form of motherhood; I have two boisterous young boys. A career change was in order when my husband himself became involved in landscaping; I saw the perfect opportunity to pursue something that until then was only a dream. I studied Landscape Design at Kwantlen University, where my love of all things plant has, well, grown. I still use my previous experience with design, only applying it to a new medium. Now my husband and I enjoy working together on landscape projects for our clients, as well as our own personal project which is our five acre property in the rural woods of Mission. Our two boys, Ben and Robbie, enjoy helping us out whenever they can, they love to dig, but mostly they love tractor work with their Daddy.
